Pet medical emergency in Montenegro

❗️ First and foremost, please note there is only one 24h vet clinic in Montenegro, Hasvet International in Podgorica ❗️

In this article we will respond to the question what to do if an animal near you has a medical emergency and it's late in the evening/at night/early in the morning/ Sunday afternoo, i.e. after hours. If an urgent vet help is needed during day time on a workday - check out the list of Montenegrin vet clinics and visit the one closest to you.

Most clinics are open on weekdays and Saturdays, some are working on Sundays too but only in the morning. Also we should warn you that there are no licensed visiting vets both for emergency and for routine pet care in Montenegro. In some clinics there are emergency lines and doctors on duty who can come to the clinic upon request (not always!).

Pet emergency in Montenegro

If you are in the middle of a pet emergency situation:

1. Try calling the nearest clinic first. Maybe the doctor is still there, or the medical personnel will be ready to call the doctor and see your pet out of hours.

To define the nearest clinic, use Google maps https://www.google.com/mapsand type “veterinar” or "vet clinic" in the search line. You can sort the results by relevance or distance, to see how far the clinic is from you.

❗️ We don't recommend to visit the Marysol clinic in Radanovici even in case of emergency.

2. If no one answers your call in the nearest clinic, try calling 24/7 Hasvet or all those clinics with emergency lines to see which one answers. If several clinics are happy to receive you - go to the nearest one:

Transport

Regular taxis are normally totally fine with transporting a dog or a cat, especially in a pet carrier.

Ask the communities of your town/village from the list here for the phone numbers for taxi within your area.
