๐ถIf you found a kitten, puppy, or an adult cat/dog on the street in Montenegro,you will largely have to rely on yourself. There are no specialists who could come and take the animal. There are volunteers who are involved in stray animal care - but there is no official organization, volunteers do it completely out of their own free will and using their own finances. Plus, the scope of stray animals problem is so huge that every volunteer usually already has several cats and dogs to take care of.

Therefore, the best course of action would beto read this post and decide what resources you already have to help the animaland which ones you are lacking and therefore would appreciate support.
For example, you may have an opportunity to foster the found kitten but you need a lift to the clinic. Or you are willing to contribute to the vet costs and send out adoption posts but you are urgently looking for a foster. Or you can't afford a pricy surgery for a wounded dog and would appreciate financial help.

๐ชณ If it is necessary to treat an animal for parasites- to get rid of fleas even in neonatal kittens, you can use sprays with a low content of fipronil (for example, Effipro, Fypryst, Fiprotec, Frontline Spray). Please DO NOT use Neopirox Vet against the advice of the clinic in Bar. It contains permethrin and is toxic to kittens; it is only suitable for treating premises, as written on its packaging.
๐ข About shelters
There are no state shelters for cats in the country. There are state/municipal shelters for dogs, called "azil" in Montenegrin, and their quality is often very low. Adult dogs in "azil" can be euthanized if they are not found a home within a month (and finding a home within such a short time is a difficult task).
๐ Do not take puppies to a municipal shelter/azil!
Puppies can be euthanized immediately upon arrival if they are deemed sick. Plus, unvaccinated small animals in such a shelter are surrounded by a lot of infections, and therefore their chances of survival there are much lower than on the street. Are there no good private shelters? There are, but they are overcrowded. The owners of these shelters read the"ะะธะฒะฐั ะงะตัะฝะพะณะพัะธั"(Living Montenegro) group on Facebook and offer space themselves if they have it. It is best to start posts about finding a home for your foundling in that group.
